So after listening to that vague & elaborate explanation I can see that this whole thing really was blown out of proportion; just like her OD at Nicole Richie’s Labor Day party a couple of years ago (“I was on antibiotics and took one little drink and whammo, they wanted to pump my stomach!”), and her DUI arrest (“I really don’t know how such a misunderstanding could’ve happened since I’m not like Lindsay and Britney!”), and now this ‘medical complications’ alibi. Man she’s got more explanations than Major Nelson on I Dream of Jeannie.

On the up side she did keep her cool in the hot seat, and while addressing some very direct & touchy personal questions! The View ladies aren’t ones to pussyfoot around sensitive subjects (They’re known for their ‘bull in the china shop’ approach, except for the genuinely compassionate Whoopee Goldberg, who diverted the conversation to Mischa’s beloved pet dogs; Stardust & Charles Dickens). If her performance on the View is any indication, Mischa’s on track again. Welcome back!

We’ve entered the slow season for entertainment gossip. The awards season – show business version of Lent or Holy Week – begins with the opening of the Toronto International Film Festival (Megan Fox & BAG are already in town). Everyone is gonna be busy schmoozing (jockeying for position), and no one wants to ruin their chances with some embarrassing tabloid scandal. So the glitterati will probably be on their best behavior until shortly after Oscar night. They want people to talk about their ‘amazing projects’, and what they’re wearing – not all that shit they’ve been up to!

It was Oscar day last year that Chris Brown went cuckoo and hammered Rihanna. They were scheduled to perform that night. His name’s been mud ever since. I guess the pent pressure of holding it in got to them! So you can see why celebs try to clean up their act for a month or so! It’ll be business as usual again, once things get back to normal. Plus we still have the Gosselins and their ever growing supporting cast to keep as a diversion. I don’t think that they’ve been nominating for anything!

What would a day be without Jon Gosselin? These days only his estranged wife Kate knows. As for the rest of us, I’m afraid it might be a little while before we have the pleasure of finding out. Jon says he despises Kate. Now that’s divorce talk, and that means a media feeding frenzy. So we might have to get used to seeing even more of him.

Kate Moss showed that she can make a fuss without Pete Doherty’s help when she stormed out of the GQ Awards. She apparently took exception to a joke made by presenter James Nesbitt. Nesbitt quipped that “Kate’s still got it. She should because I gave it to her before the show!” Kate felt that this was rude, and barged out vowing never to return. I don’t know what she was so upset about. It’s not like she hasn’t got it before. Here’s a video report on it, with some other tasty tidbits!

Matt Damon takes on heavy role

Matt Damon had to prepare pretty intensively for his role in The Informant. At the recent Venice Film Festival that actor reveals exactly how much he put into it. Seems that the part required Damon to pack on 30 pounds. Being a dedicated actor, Damon immediately set to work gaining the extra weight.

Now Damon had a plan to pack on the extra pounds. He just ate everything in sight. He also hit McDonalds regularly, and scoffed down Doritos with beer. He said: ‘It was very, very easy to gain the weight. It was very, very fun, probably the funnest time I had working, because I didn’t have to go to the gym after work and I just ate everything I could see. I definitely got doughy. I started eating like crazy and drinking dark beer. Between meals on set, I’d eat a No. 1 Value Meal at McDonald’s and then Doritos on top of it. It was absolute heaven.’

Now Damon isn’t the first one to do this. Chris Bale has gained. lost, gained, and lost a combined 500 pounds probably for his various roles. Robert Deniro set the standard for that in Raging Bull. American Critics were impressed with his intensity. Brit critics mocked them for confusing weight and talent. If you can’t be Orson Welles at least you can weigh as much!
